KIBA SRO Housing Model
KIBA Group Construction collaborates with landowners who are renting out single-family houses rather than constructing new structures. The residence is renovated by KIBA Group by putting up walls to make more rooms.
If there is a formal dining room or an extra den, for example, those will be turned into bedrooms. The property owners agree to fix up the homes set by the KIBA Group Quality Standard.
Once complete our Leasing Company screens potential residents and rents out each room, including utilities, internet, and laundry, for around $850 a month. For a property owner who might have been renting the whole house for $1400, it’s a way to make more money. For renters, it’s a way to save; the average affordable housing tenant makes only $21,000 a year, and saves $650 by renting through our model. (The cost is similar to renting a room through Craigslist, but KIBA Group homes are in better condition, and all tenants are given background checks)
